Our Story
Ahava Ministries seeks to love the least, last, lonely, and lost in Santa Elena Barillas, Guatemala through our lunch program on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Approximately 120 children and their mothers come to receive a nutritious meal and learn more about their Heavenly Father that created them special and with a unique purpose. By meeting a physical, tangible need for food, we earn the opportunity to introduce them to the Bread of Life and Living Water - Jesus Christ.
Our mission is to share the unconditional love of Jesus Christ, to meet the needs of orphans and widows by sacrificially giving, going and serving as led by the Holy Spirit, and to share with each person we come in contact with that they were created on purpose for a purpose. Thank you for partnering with us.
Hear how the Lord led our founder, Shane Boyette, to start Ahava Ministries:
"A small young boy with mental disabilities and his younger brother stood before me with hands held out for a monetary donation. Hungry and walking the streets, Danny and his brother Andy took the dollar I gave them and walked across the street to a vendor and bought a bag of chips. As I sat on the sidewalk waiting for the repairs to the broke down truck we were in to be made I watched these boys eat those chips like that's the only thing they had eaten all day. As they walked away, the Holy Spirit placed Mattthew 25:40 on my heart. 'Is this all you are going to do for the least of mine?'. So with my interpreter following me, we went looking for these two boys. Ahava Ministries was born from this encounter. Thanks for your support."
